From a Lil' Ol' Lady (contīd) I had to have wheels, right away!
Over the next few weeks, the T-Bird seemed to get worse...I had tried everything I could think of, and Pop had been taking it apart every weekend for a month....nothing. Alternators, regulators,
starters, ignition switches, cables here and cables there........it was just spooked somehow. My love life was dying with that car. Not only wasnīt it reliable, but because my Dad had it apart all weekend, that
pretty much shot having it for Friday and Sat nights!!! Then in August, I had set up to see a girl I knew from skiing, she lived in Boston. My best friend and I would drive up....but in what? The T-Bird I had raved
about to her was a basketcase. We wouldnīt make it off the Island with it. I had to have wheels, right away! But what? My buddyīs Le Sabre wasnīt gonna do it.
One day my brother and his wife decided they were gonna buy a new Malibu, for the family car! They had a 1966 Pontiac Ventura they would be looking to get rid of. It had a 389 with a single 2
bbl carb, but it was metallic blue, black vinyl top with a cool white interior, buckets, gauges, tach, all stock, and a 3 spd. Hurst floorshifter, console, reverb and a HUGE BACKSEAT! This would do nicely in the
situation. At the time, I didnīt really appreciate how cool this car was...but I knew it wasnīt bad. And I knew that it would definitely get us to Boston. I only have 2 pictures of this car, but did an awful lot in
it believe me. The one above was taken in Edīs driveway, this one was taken on the trip to Boston, in front of "her" house.

The Ventura became my wheels for the time being, and now I had 2 cars!! We put the T-Bird for sale in the BuyLines and waited for a victim...I mean
a buyer!! It wasnīt long before a young fashionable couple from Nassau showed up with their mechanic, interested in it.
(By now the car was shutting itself off as you drove down the road, then one day I found myself getting out of the car, keys in my hand and realizing
that the car was still running, not dieseling mind you........running like normal, only it wasnīt normal....IT WAS POSSESSED!!)
They loved it, paid the $750, signed the Bill of Sale that said "AS IS" and drove away. 5 minutes later, there they were..." gee we were driving along and the car just shut off....!" Maybe it needs a tuneup
.
When they drove off, we all peeked through the curtains....but they didnīt come back.........Whew! Later we found out they got stuck on the Long
Island Expressway and wanted their money back, but our friend "Vinny" convinced them they really didnīt!
